U.S. REFUGEE TRAVEL DOCUMENT (FORM I-571): VISA FREE DESTINATIONS: KINGDOM OF NETHERLANDS - UPDATED

Lesbian, gay , bisexual, transgender (LGBT) rights in the Netherlands have been some of the most progressive in the world. The Netherlands has become one of the most culturally liberal countries in the world, with recent polls indicating that more than 90% of Dutch people support same-sex marriage. 

Amsterdam has frequently been named one of the most LGBT-friendly cities in the world, famous for its many accommodations specifically pertaining to the LGBT community including its many gay bars, bathhouses, hotels and venues as well as Pink Point, which provides LGBT friendly information and souvenirs, and the national Homomonument, which was completed in 19 87 to commemorate homosexuals who were persecuted and killed during World War II. 

An asylee or a permanent resident who obtained such status as a result of asylum can travel with a U.S. Refugee Travel Document (Form I-571) to the Kingdom of Netherlands visa free. 

If you possess a U.S. Refugee Travel Document (Form I-571). Please keep in mind that while a visa is not required you must: 

- You must hold a passport or U.S. Refugee Travel Document (Form I-571) issued within the last 10 years. 

- Your passport or U.S. Refugee Travel Document (Form I-571) must be valid for at least 3 months after your date of departure. 

-You must have proof that you have enough money to cover your costs for the duration of your stay (34 euros a day).

- You must be able to demonstrate the purpose of your stay to customs and immigration officials. 

- You must be able to prove you have travel insurance that covers medical expenses. 

- You must have a return or onward ticket. 

- You must not be considered a threat to public order, national security or international relations. 

- Hold a Refugee Travel Document that states "Refugee Travel Document" above the picture. 
- The maximum you are allowed to stay in the Kingdom of Netherlands is 90 days. You are allowed to travel multiple times in a year, but you cannot stay over 90 days. 

- ***Visa is not required for passengers holding a Refugee Travel Document (Form I-571) issued by the United States. This document is accepted in lieu of a passport.  

***Please be advised that the above requirements are specific to travel to The Kingdom of Netherlands.

  1. Informative post! This blog can help a lot of people who are looking for a Refugee travel document. As for me, I am planning to get a Visa for the Netherlands in the next couple of weeks so that I can visit a few of my friends there. I hope that the travel restrictions will ease out by then so that I can enter Netherlands without much hassles.

ASYLEES AND THE RIGHT TO WORK!

If you are an ASYLEE (ASYLUM GRANTED) , you do NOT   require an EAD, Employment Authorization Document to work in the United States.  Let's discuss the law, In the HANDBOOK FOR EMPLOYERS M-274 on USCIS, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services website SECTION 6.3 REFUGEES AND ASYLEES.  Refugees and asylees are AUTHORIZED   to work indefinitely because of their immigration status does not expire.  After being granted ASYLUM in the United States, The Department of Homeland Security issues a FORM I-94, ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE RECORD , to asylees. FORM I-94 will contain a stamp or natation such as "ASYLUM GRANTED INDEFINITELY" or the appropriate provision of the law (8 CFR 274.a.12(a)(5) or INA 208) to show their employment authorization. APPLYING FOR A REFUGEE TRAVEL DOCUMENT (UNITED STATES)  If you want to travel internationally, You will need a passport.
