USCIS PROVIDES UPDATE ON RECEIPT NOTICE DELAYS FOR FORMS FILED AT UCIS LOCKBOX! πŸŒΏπŸ›‚

Did you file a form at USCIS Lockbox and have not received a receipt notice? You are not alone. Effective December 01, 2020, USCIS, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services has revised the civics portion of the Naturalization Test. Applicants for naturalization who are now required to take the 2020 version of the civics test will need to study 128 questions about American Government and History.  The naturalization civics test has two components: an English and Civics Test. The English portion has not changed.   With the 2020 Version of the Civics Test, The USCIS Immigration Officer will now ask you to answer 20 out of the 128 civics test questions. To pass, you must answer at least 12 questions correctly to pass the 2020 versions of the civics test.   Effective September 29, 2020, a district court stayed the implementation and the effective date of the August 2020 USSCIS Final Rule on Immigrant Benefit fees. (ILRC et al., v. Wolf, et al.,9/29/2020. This ultimately means the increased fees as well as the forms and policy changes related to the changes in the Immigrant Benefits Fee Rule, CANNOT be implemented by USCIS AT THIS TIME. ASYLEES AND THE RIGHT TO WORK!

If you are an ASYLEE (ASYLUM GRANTED) , you do NOT   require an EAD, Employment Authorization Document to work in the United States.  Let's discuss the law, In the HANDBOOK FOR EMPLOYERS M-274 on USCIS, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services website SECTION 6.3 REFUGEES AND ASYLEES.  Refugees and asylees are AUTHORIZED   to work indefinitely because of their immigration status does not expire.  After being granted ASYLUM in the United States, The Department of Homeland Security issues a FORM I-94, ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE RECORD , to asylees. FORM I-94 will contain a stamp or natation such as "ASYLUM GRANTED INDEFINITELY" or the appropriate provision of the law (8 CFR 274.a.12(a)(5) or INA 208) to show their employment authorization. An ASYLEE can also present an electronic FORM I-94 with an admission "AY".  FORM I-94 is an acceptable LIST C document on the FORM I-9 and does not EXPIRE . The economic disaster caused by the CoronaVirus Pandemic is severe and crippling as a result, Congress has passed a $2.2 trillion aid package here in the United States of America.  To qualify for the payment, you must be a U.S. citizen or a lawful permanent resident (commonly referred to as a Green Card holder) . Others who legally reside in the United States such as asylees and asylum seekers , may also be eligible for the payment, as long as they are not "non-resident aliens, by the IRS, Internal Revenue Service. RULES FOR VISITING CANADA, DRIVE OR ARRIVE BY TRAIN, BUS OR BOAT AS A U.S. PERMANENT RESIDENT THAT OBTAINED SUCH STATUS THROUGH ASYLUM

Most people will need either a visa or an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to travel to Canada - but not both.  If you are a U.S. Permanent Resident commonly referred to as a green card holder, and you obtained such status through asylum, You don't need a visa or an eTA to travel to Canada when you drive, arrive by train, bus or boat.  You don't need a visa or an eTA.
