ASYLEES WITH GREEN CARD: VISA FREE DESTINATIONS

Lawful Permanent Residents (Green Card Holders) who has obtained their permanent residency through asylum affords visa free travel to several destinations, Some green card holders have visa-free access to many of the destinations by virtue of the nationality already held. 

Visa-Free Access with Green Card to the following countries are allowed along with a U.S. Refugee Travel Document (Form I-571). Always contact the local consulate of the specific countries listed for additional travel requirements and if unsure always speak with a Licensed Attorney-At-Law for consultation regarding your particular case, for example: Some countries like Canada will not admit to their country if you have a criminal record.

Canada - 6 months - An Electronic Travel Authorization is required if travelling by air. 

Cayman Islands - 30 days 

Bermuda  

Caribbean Netherlands (Netherlands Antilles, Bonaire, Aruba, Sint Maarten Curacao) 30 days. 

Mexico - 180 days 

Turks and Caicos Islands - 30 days 

Nicaragua - 3 months 

Panama - 90 days 

Serbia - 90 days 

Montenegro - 30 days 

Kosovo - 15 days 

Dominican Republic - 30 days 

Costa Rica - 30 days 

Dominica - 6 months 

Guatemala - 90 days 

Jamaica- 6 months 

Belize - Permanent residents of the United States can obtain a visa on arrival provided prior approval is obtained from the Belizean Immigration (Fee USA $50.00) Some visitors also have to pay a repatriation fee). 

Antigua and Barbuda - 30 days 

Albania - 90 days within a 180 days period. 

Bahamas - 30 days 

Bosnia and Herzegovina - 90 days within a 180 days period. 

British Virgin Islands - 30 days 

Please note the following: 
If you are a national of any of listed countries that allow visa-free travel to asylees who has obtained a green card through an asylum win, You should never travel back to the country of your nationality until you have become a U.S. Citizen and possess a U.S. Passport.

ASYLEES AND THE RIGHT TO WORK!

If you are an ASYLEE (ASYLUM GRANTED) , you do NOT   require an EAD, Employment Authorization Document to work in the United States.  Let's discuss the law, In the HANDBOOK FOR EMPLOYERS M-274 on USCIS, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services website SECTION 6.3 REFUGEES AND ASYLEES.  Refugees and asylees are AUTHORIZED   to work indefinitely because of their immigration status does not expire.  After being granted ASYLUM in the United States, The Department of Homeland Security issues a FORM I-94, ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE RECORD , to asylees. FORM I-94 will contain a stamp or natation such as "ASYLUM GRANTED INDEFINITELY" or the appropriate provision of the law (8 CFR 274.a.12(a)(5) or INA 208) to show their employment authorization. An ASYLEE can also present an electronic FORM I-94 with an admission "AY".  FORM I-94 is an acceptable LIST C document on the FORM I-9 and does not EXPIRE . HOW TO APPLY FOR A U.S. REFUGEE TRAVEL DOCUMENT (FORM I-571)? (UNITED STATES)

APPLYING FOR A REFUGEE TRAVEL DOCUMENT (UNITED STATES)  If you want to travel internationally, You will need a passport. A refugee travel document is basically the equivalent of a passport for asylee who need to travel outside of the United States temporarily.   If you are a U.S. asylee or obtained a Lawful Permanent Residence as a result of having been an asylee then you must apply for a refugee travel document before you leave the United States.  ALWAYS BE REMINDED: YOU SHOULD NEVER TRAVEL TO THE COUNTRY FROM WHICH YOU CLAIMED PERSECUTION IN YOUR ASYLUM.   HOW TO FILE FORM I-131 & SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS  In order to apply for a U.S. Refugee Travel Document, You must file Form I-131, Application for Travel Document with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
