APPLYING FOR A REFUGEE TRAVEL DOCUMENT (UNITED STATES)  If you want to travel internationally, You will need a passport. Asylum is a permanent once granted. However, asylum status can be taken away.   Asylum status is a path to U.S. Citizenship.  As an asylee you are authorized to work in the United States. As an asylee you may be able to travel abroad.  Under U.S. federal immigration law, you are required to report any change of address to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) within ten (10) days of changing the address. You notify the DHS by filing the Form AR-11, which you can submit online or by mail. You are obligated to comply with this requirement until you become a naturalized United States Citizen.
