APPLYING FOR A REFUGEE TRAVEL DOCUMENT (UNITED STATES)  If you want to travel internationally, You will need a passport. Asylum is a permanent once granted. However, asylum status can be taken away.   Asylum status is a path to U.S. Citizenship.  As an asylee you are authorized to work in the United States. As an asylee you may be able to travel abroad.  Under U.S. federal immigration law, you are required to report any change of address to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) within ten (10) days of changing the address. You notify the DHS by filing the Form AR-11, which you can submit online or by mail. You are obligated to comply with this requirement until you become a naturalized United States Citizen. WHAT IS A U.S. REFUGEE TRAVEL DOCUMENT (FORM I-571)?

An U.S. Refugee Travel Document also known as Form I-571 is issued pursuant to Article 28 of the United Nations Convention of July 29, 1951, for the purpose of travel.  It may be issued to a person who is in the United States as a refugee pursuant to section 207 of the Immigration and Nationality Act, as an asylee pursuant to section 208 of the Act , as an permanent resident who received such status as a director result of refugee or asylee status. A lawfully obtained, currently valid U.S Refugee Travel Document(Form I-571) shall be accepted in lieu of any travel document which otherwise would have been required from such person under the act.   What is the Validity of the U.S. Refugee Travel Document (Form I-571)?
