U.S. REFUGEE TRAVEL DOCUMENT (FORM I-571): VISA FREE DESTINATIONS: THE KINGDOM OF BELGIUM

The Kingdom of Belgium is a sovereign state in Western Europe. Belgium is a developed country, with an advanced high-income economy. 

It has very high standards of living, quality of life, healthcare, education and is categorized as "very high" in the Human Development Index. It also ranks as one of the safest or most peaceful countries in the world. 

U.S. Refugee Travel Document (Form I-571)holders has visa free travel to the Kingdom of Belgium.

If you possess a U.S. Refugee Travel Document (Form I-571) Please keep in mind that while a visa is not required you must: 

- Hold a Refugee Travel Document that states "Refugee Travel Document" above the passport picture. 

- Hold a Refugee Travel Document valid for at least three months on entry. 

- Hold proof of onward/return flights. 

- Hold proof of sufficient funds relative to your intended length of stay. 

***Please be advised that the above requirement are specific to travel to the Kingdom of Belgium.

"Holders of a U.S. Refugee Travel Document do not need a visa to enter Belgium. The document "Permit to Re-enter" is recognized by Belgium, but requires a visa you  choose to travel with it".

FACTS ABOUT THE KINGDOM OF BELGIUM 

- The official languages of the Kingdom of Belgium are French, Dutch and German. 

- The capital  and largest city is Brussels. 

- Belgium was the second country in the world to decriminalize homosexuality. 

- Belgium become the second country to allow same-sex marriages in 2003 (after the Netherlands). Same-sex couples have the same rights as opposite-sex couples. 

- LGBT people are generally wells socially accepted in Belgium. There is a strong gay community with numerous gay clubs.

ASYLEES AND THE RIGHT TO WORK!

If you are an ASYLEE (ASYLUM GRANTED) , you do NOT   require an EAD, Employment Authorization Document to work in the United States.  Let's discuss the law, In the HANDBOOK FOR EMPLOYERS M-274 on USCIS, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services website SECTION 6.3 REFUGEES AND ASYLEES.  Refugees and asylees are AUTHORIZED   to work indefinitely because of their immigration status does not expire.  After being granted ASYLUM in the United States, The Department of Homeland Security issues a FORM I-94, ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE RECORD , to asylees. FORM I-94 will contain a stamp or natation such as "ASYLUM GRANTED INDEFINITELY" or the appropriate provision of the law (8 CFR 274.a.12(a)(5) or INA 208) to show their employment authorization. An ASYLEE can also present an electronic FORM I-94 with an admission "AY".  FORM I-94 is an acceptable LIST C document on the FORM I-9 and does not EXPIRE . HOW TO APPLY FOR A U.S. REFUGEE TRAVEL DOCUMENT (FORM I-571)? (UNITED STATES)

APPLYING FOR A REFUGEE TRAVEL DOCUMENT (UNITED STATES)  If you want to travel internationally, You will need a passport. A refugee travel document is basically the equivalent of a passport for asylee who need to travel outside of the United States temporarily.   If you are a U.S. asylee or obtained a Lawful Permanent Residence as a result of having been an asylee then you must apply for a refugee travel document before you leave the United States.  ALWAYS BE REMINDED: YOU SHOULD NEVER TRAVEL TO THE COUNTRY FROM WHICH YOU CLAIMED PERSECUTION IN YOUR ASYLUM.   HOW TO FILE FORM I-131 & SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS  In order to apply for a U.S. Refugee Travel Document, You must file Form I-131, Application for Travel Document with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
